Building a form

Create a form, add and arrange questions, and publish your changes.

Open Forms and press + New form. You'll land in the builder on the Build tab with a first question ready to edit.

The builder

The Build tab has three parts that sit side by side (and stack on smaller screens):

  • Outline — every item in order: questions are numbered Q1, Q2…, instructions show as Text.
  • Visitor preview — the selected item exactly as visitors will see it, with ← Previous and Next →.
  • Inspector — the selected item's settings.

Click the form's name at the top to rename it.

Adding questions

  • Click a quick-add chip under the outline (Short text, Email, Multiple choice, Dropdown, Long text, File upload, Static text) to add it after the selected item, or drag a chip onto the outline to drop it exactly where you want.
  • Change any item's type from the Type menu in the inspector. The question, help text and options are kept where they fit.

The types available depend on your plan — see Field types.

Editing a question

In the inspector you can set the question, placeholder, help text, options (for choices) and whether it's required. Static text has its own size and alignment. Delete field removes it.

Rearranging

Choose how to move items from Rearrange fields:

  • Drag & drop — grab the ⋮⋮ handle and drop the item where it should go.
  • Up / down — use the ↑ ↓ buttons. This works well with a keyboard and on touch screens.

Your choice is remembered in your browser.

Saving and publishing

Every change saves to your draft straight away — there's no Save button. Visitors keep seeing the last published version until you press Publish changes. When the draft differs from the live form, an Unpublished changes badge appears next to the status.

If something stops the form from being published (a question without text, a choice with no options, a field your plan doesn't include), the builder lists exactly what to fix.

Preview opens the draft in a new tab exactly as visitors will see it; nothing you submit there is saved.

Duplicating

From the ⋯ menu on the forms list, Duplicate makes a draft copy called "(copy)" with its own address. Routing rules and decisions come along too.
